The President of CATSA decorated by France
Mr. Jacques DUCHESNEAU, President of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), received the French insignia of Knight of the Ordre National du Mérite. He was decorated by the French Ambassador, Mr. Daniel Jouanneau, during a ceremony which took place at the French Residence on September 13th, 2006.
The Ordre National du Mérite is a decoration that was instituted in France in December 1963 to reward services rendered to France or to recognise particular merits. The Order comprises the ranks of Knight, Officer, and Commander.
Mr. DUCHESNEAU is the President of CATSA, which was created following the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001. France and Canada cooperate closely on air transport security issues, on a bilateral basis as well as in the framework of the G8.
In distinguishing Mr. Duchesneau, France is paying tribute to one of the most ardent supporters of Franco-Canadian cooperation in these matters.
