The G8 Research Councils Initiative on Multilateral Research Funding

7 research funding agencies of G8 members countries established a new multilateral funding initiative.

This programme aims at promoting excellent research on topics of global relevance which address main challenges of the 21st century.

The duration of the funding will be from 2 to 3 years. Within each selected consortium, funding of the participating researchers is provided by their respective national funding agency according to its normal terms and conditions for project funding.

Eligibility criteria

  • This first call for proposals focuses on application software towards exascale computing for global scale issues
  • This call for proposals is open to French, German, Canadian, Japanese, Russian, British and American researchers.
  • Each project must be composed of researchers from of at least 3 participating countries.
  • The funding is reserved for collaborative research and NOT for networking, mobility or communication.

Complete application form for preliminary proposal must be submitted by MAY 7, 2010
