This is a rare opportunity for the public to visit the Embassy of France, which is both an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of the privileged relationship between France and Canada.

The most remarkable highlights include a reproduction replica of the Vimy monument, sculpted by Louis Leygue. This monument pays tribute to the 60,000 Canadians who died in France during the First World War.

The Embassy of France, located at 42 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, opened on January 4th, 1939, after three years of construction.

The first stone of this art deco-style building was laid by Prime Minister Mackenzie King on July 14th, 1936.
