The Residence of the Embassy of France is opening its doors to the public as part of the Doors Open Ottawa event taking place on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 from 8:30AM to 5:30PM.
1500 people braved the heat to visit this exceptional Residence!
This was a rare opportunity for the public to visit the Embassy of France, which is both an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of the privileged relationship between France and Canada.
The most remarkable highlights include a reproduction of the Vimy monument, sculpted by Louis Leygue. This monument pays tribute to the 60,000 Canadians who died in France during the First World War.
The Embassy of France, located at 42 Sussex Drive, Ottawa, opened on January 4th, 1939, after three years of construction.
The first stone of this art deco-style building was laid by Prime Minister Mackenzie King on July 14th, 1936.

You will need 15-20 minutes to visit the Residence;
Please show up between 15h30 and 17h00 – no late admission;
Government-issued photo ID required, tickets are not transferrable;
Tickets are valid only for the time slot indicated;
No parking available on the premises of the Embassy;
All visitors will be subject to security screening (metal detector) – please expect to queue – no large bags, no strollers;
No food, no drinks;
Sussex Drive will be closed to regular traffic from 8am to 10am on Saturday, June 2; the closure will affect the north side of Sussex in particular, as no one will be permitted to cross the street during that timeframe;
