Thales opens its first North American Research & Technology Centre in Quebec City
Thales Canada recently announced that its R&D centre in Quebec City’s Parc Technologique has officially become a Thales Research and Technology (TRT) centre—the fifth in the world and the first in North America.
This French company has established itself as a world leader in the high-tech sector, particularly on the defence, security, aeronautics, and transport markets. Its booming activities in Canada—particularly in Quebec—are the motivation behind the creation of this centre, which aims to bolster the company’s research capacities in the fields of cyber-security, cognitive science, social media analysis, optimization algorithms, mobile platforms, modelling, simulation, and the integration of information into smart network and sensor technology.
The Office for Science and Technology and the Quebec consular service attended this significant event in support of Franco-Canadian scientific and technological collaboration. Thales is opening up new prospects for auspicious cooperative projects involving universities in Quebec.
