Signature of cooperation agreement and nomination of Doctors Honoris Causa at UDEM

Nomination of Doctors Honoris Causa at Université de Montréal

The Université de Montréal was hosting from October 2th to October 4th an event for the venue of a French delegation of well-known scientists and directors. At this occasion, received a Honoris causa degree:

  • Alain Fuchs, Director General and President of the French research centre CNRS;
  • Claudine Schmidt-Lainé, Director of the Institute for Sciences and System Engineering (INSIS) of the CNRS;
  • Ronan Stéphan, Director General for Research and Innovation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in France.
  • Denis Kessler, economist, researcher and company director, he obtained in 2009 the grade of « Officier de la légion d’honneur ».
  • Jacques Samarut, president of École Nationale Supérieure de Lyon.

Many speakers was there, and in particular the Québec Prime Minister, Mr. Jean Charest.

Signature for the international research unit CNRS-Centre de Recherche en Mathématiques (UDEM)

Joseph Hubert, vice-president for research and international relations at Université de Montréal, and Alain Fuchs, CNRS have signed on Monday the official convention for the creation of the international unit for Mathematics research (Unité Mixte Internationale CNRS – CRM) which will be located at the « Centre de recherches mathématiques » (CRM) of Université de Montréal.
