France to decorate Mr. Jacques Roy
The Ambassador of France in Canada, Mr. Daniel Jouanneau, gave the Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur medal to Mr. Jacques Roy, former Canadian ambassador. This reception took place at the Embassy of France on Thursday, October 27th, 2005.
Mr. Roy has served in the federal public service since 1960 until recently. He held very important positions within the Department of Foreign Affairs. He contributed to the conclusion of the Canada-European Union Agreement. As Ambassador of Canada to France, he contributed to the excellent relations between Canada and France. Mr. Roy has now an active role within the Canada-France Association.
In decorating him, France hopes to recognise his work for the defence and promotion of French, French culture and francophonie.
