Eliminating violence against women #November25 [fr]
In honour of this international event, France would like to highlight efforts underway to end all forms of violence against women and girls.
More than twenty years after the 1995 World Conference on Women in Beijing, violence is still a reality for one in three women around the world and, in some countries, for two out of three women.
France calls for all nations to ratify and implement the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and to ratify the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.
We are actively working to implement the commitments made at the United Nations and enshrined in the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2015. As the result of an initiative led by France and the Netherlands, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on domestic violence on November 21st.
France also supports the UN Women campaign to establish 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence between November 25th and December 25th.
