Election for Director-General of the International Labour Organization [fr]

Joint News Release from Laurent Fabius and Michel Sapin (May 22, 2012)

On the eve of the election for Director-General of the International Labour Organization, which will take place in Geneva on May 28, the French Government is reiterating its full support for France’s candidate, Mr. Gilles de Robien.

Over the course of a very active campaign, which saw him meet with each of the voting parties (28 governments, 14 employer representatives and 14 worker representatives), Gilles de Robien was received in some 25 countries. The French Government is convinced that, under his direction, the ILO would work to strengthen the prominent position that it must hold within the multilateral system in order to act as a genuine “social pillar” of globalization.
