Death of Jacques Parizeau – Statement by Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development (June 8, 2015)
I was saddened to learn of the passing of the former Prime Minister of Quebec, Jacques Parizeau. I want to offer my sincere condolences to his wife, his family and all Québécois. Mr. Parizeau devoted his life to Quebec, first as the artisan of the great reforms of the Quiet Revolution, and then as Prime Minister. We have lost a great Québécois.
France, with which Jacques Parizeau had strong ties since his student days in Paris, has lost a friend who strongly contributed to the development of the very special relationship between our governments, businesses and citizens.
We will always remember his unwavering commitment to serving Quebec and his friendship for France.
