France is intent on paying tribute to all the veterans throughout the world who have fought on French soil in order to liberate Europe and defend the same values we share with Canada, which are dear to our heart.

The conference “Biodiversity in European Development Cooperation” took place from 19 to 21 September 2006 in Paris offered cutting-edge debate on the dual challenge of poverty reduction and biodiversity conservation. High-level speakers and participants from European and partner countries, civil society and multilateral organisations charted ways to make development aid contribute more effectively to the Millennium Development Goals, especially Goal 7 to ensure environmental sustainability.
Mr. Jacques DUCHESNEAU, President of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), has received the French insignia of Knight of the Ordre National du Mérite. He was decorated by the French Ambassador, Mr. Daniel Jouanneau, during a ceremony which has taken place at the French Residence on September 13th, 2006.
